I liked the projects, which I was working on. For instance, one of the projects was on identifying mosquito species and populated areas using deep learning in order to prevent diseases such as Malaria, Zika, Denque and etc.
What I wish was different
I wish I worked more on algorithm developing problems as well.

Pre-Health Scholars Program Intern
May - June 2018 • University of South Florida, FL
What I liked
I liked this program because I was able to learn about the different professions in the health field. This program engaged us to learn from pharmacists, nurses, current residents, physicians, USF Morsani College of Medicine admissions officials, public health advisors, and so much more. I really enjoyed the time that was spent by the medical school students teaching us about the body and the experience we were able to have at the Anatomy Lab. The last thing I enjoyed that made the experience more fun and worthwhile was the people in my group. We became a family since every cohort at PSP holds a maximum of 15 students
What I wish was different
We had some chances to shadow, but we were only able to do it once or twice during the program.
Advice
This is a perfect opportunity for first-year students that are looking to join the medical field.
I liked how convent this job was. I also liked the benefits such as being able to live on campus and receive a meal plan.

What I liked
I appreciated how much I grew during the training for becoming an orientation leader like the leadership class. I also liked being able to help other students open up about their experiences and helping them transition into the university.
What I wish was different
I wish that I would have spent more time learning about resources on campus. I also wish that there were better things in place to stay in contact with students after orientation.
Advice
Be open minded. And open to growth. Become comfortable with the uncomfortable

Student research assistant
February 2023 • Tampa, FL
What I liked
I had the possibility of getting more hands on experience in the engineering area
What I wish was different
The only thing I would change in the experience is being only focused on it. Since was during classes was hard to manage time and availability to manage the research and classes
Advice
I just got this experience emailing researches at my university so one advice that I would give is don’t be afraid to ask and don’t let one no stop you.
