Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) New Student Orientation (NSO) Microinternship (College of Music)
The College of Music in partnership with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra has summer microinternships to distribute to College of Music students. Each microintern will be a “project consultant” for the DSO–completing 1 project in the field of arts administration on behalf of the DSO. Microintern recipients will be paid $600 via project pay through the MSU College of Music.

Duration: 40 hours total (5 hours each orientation)
Orientation Dates: June 9 | June 10 | June 12 | June 16 | June 17 | June 23 | June 25 | June 30

Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic New Student Orientation Intern to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping others, enjoys working in a team, and has strong organizational skills. As an intern, you will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and executing orientation activities for new students.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of orientation events and activities.
- Lead orientation sessions and provide information to new students.
- Facilitate icebreaker activities and group discussions to help new students connect with each other.
- Provide support and guidance to new students.
- Collect feedback from participants to improve future orientation programs.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to the orientation program.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled as a student at the Michigan State University College of Music (Majors and Minors).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for helping new students.
- Previous experience in event planning or leadership roles is a plus.
