Arts Internship Award Program: Crescendo Detroit

***The College of Music arts internship award program is available to College of Music students only!

The award provides a $1500 scholarship for a student to complete an internship (10 hrs/week, 10 weeks) at an arts organization host site. Both graduate and undergraduate music students are eligible for these awards. *Students are not eligible for AIAP internships after they have graduated (i.e.; if you graduate in May, you are not eligible for a summer AIAP internship).

Job Description: Social Media Intern
Location: Detroit, MI
Type: Internship (Part-Time)
Reports to: Crescendo Detroit Site Manager
 

About Crescendo Detroit: Crescendo Detroit is a grassroots, neighborhood arts organization dedicated to impacting the lives of children aged 5-18 through music, dance, and arts education. Founded by Michigan State University alumni, we are committed to providing access to high quality arts education and fostering a supportive community.
 

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and creative Social Media Intern to join our team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media management, content creation, and community engagement. The ideal candidate will be passionate about arts education and eager to contribute to our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
· Content Creation: Assist in developing and curating engaging content (photos, videos,
stories) that showcases our students, classes, and the impact of our programs.
· Social Media Management: Help manage Crescendo Detroit’s social media accounts
across various platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok).
· Community Engagement: Interact with our online community by responding to
comments, messages, and engaging with followers.
· Interviews and Features: Support the coordination and execution of interviews with
students, parents, and staff, and assist in creating compelling clips for social media.
· Analytics and Reporting: Monitor social media metrics and assist in analyzing
performance to improve engagement and reach.
· Collaboration: Work closely with the Social Media Manager and other team members to
ensure cohesive messaging and branding across all platforms.
 

Qualifications:
· Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Proficiency in content creation tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) is a plus.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Passion for arts education and community engagement.
