Career Peer, College of Agriculture & Natural Resources

The College of Agriculture & Natural Resources is looking to hire Peer Advisors who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of MSU undergraduate students. Career Services Peer Advisors have the opportunity to gain experience with not only with one-on-one career advising, but also employer relations, presentation skills, public relations, and more. Students will also have the opportunity to have project work tailored to their skill set and overall career goals.


This position is for the 2023/2024 school year and beyond, 8-10 hours per week - can schedule hours around class times. Paid training & orientation provided.
 
 
Job Duties Include:
 
Advising
  • Provide one-on-one and group advising on career resources and tools for drop-in advising appointments in person or virtually on Handshake.
  • Review resumes, cover letters, and provide feedback both virtually and in-person
  • Act as a liaison to resources both within Career Services and with campus partners.
Presentations
  • Serve as a representative of Career Services Network at campus events.
  • Attend Career Service Network events as a student liason
  • Provide and present career education workshops per the request of student organizations, faculty and advisors, and other campus partners, including resumes, cover letters, career exploration, job search strategies, interview strategies, grad school planning, and using LinkedIn.
Programming and Social Media
  • Collaborate on visibility, marketing and promotion of CANR and Career Services Network career events
Paid Training!
  • You will be trained to complete all the above duties and compensated for training time!

Qualifications:
  • Available for orientation and training the week before fall classes start
  • Strong attention to detail and work ethic
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills for working with diverse student populations
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to take initiative and bring new ideas to a team setting
  • Interest and/or experience in successfully mentoring/advising/coaching others
