SPARTANfit Fitness Programs Internship
The Fitness Program Intern assists the Fitness Program Coordinator and Fitness Programs Assist with daily operations and programming as well as other Health Education team members in the Health Promotion Department within Student Health Services. The intern will work specifically with the SPARTANfit Fitness Assessment program gaining hands-on experience with fitness assessment and exercise prescription as well as fitness and wellness promotion programming. We are in search for a motivated intern, who has the right attitude and a desire to help change people’s lives through the power of fitness.
Duties:
Fitness Assessment and Consultation, specifically working with KIN 121 Healthy Lifestyle classes and SPARTANfit Fitness Assessment and IMSPARTANfit participants
Assist in compiling fitness assessment participation data, analysis and completion of necessary reports
Become skilled at how to effectively use SMART Goal Setting and Motivational Interviewing
Aid in Health Promotion and Outreach activities
Contribute to the marketing of all fitness and wellness programs and services through website promotions, newsletter articles, table events, social media, etc
Assist in the coordination of campus-wide special events programming related to fitness and wellness.
Develop and/or implement at least one special program/event for students related to fitness and wellness
Prepare and deliver a minimum of one fitness/wellness educational program to students
Attend all regularly scheduled office hours and meetings
Other Duties as assigned
Requirements:
1. This is a two semester internship (summer-fall, fall-spring or spring-summer), 5-10hrs per week.
2. Interest in fitness and wellness, fitness assessment/exercise testing and prescription.
3. Knowledge in and/or educational background in kinesiology, health promotion, health education, exercise science, and/or other health related areas.
4. Current CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
5. Skilled in Microsoft Windows applications.
6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including ability to deliver presentations and have the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of fitness.
7. Must possess good organizational skills and be efficient in multitasking.
8. Ability to work independently and in a group setting; ability to work in a dynamic, changing, and diverse environment.
