Student Technical Assistant I
Purpose
The Student Technical Assistant I will assist in the production of technical documents and drawings to support the engineering designs into fabrication and production-level drawings.
Major Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist in producing and documenting effective design solutions by developing concepts and creating CAD designs/details
- Use 2-D and 3-D drawings and models produced by designers and engineers to assist in creating detailed drawings (includes the extensive use of GD&T)
- Provide support for fabrication, assembly, and commissioning of technical equipment
- Assists the project leader and subject matter experts in transforming technical requirements into design solutions
- Assist project leader and subject matter experts in reviewing design layouts, budgets, project documentation for construction, testing, modification of hardware and software and/or the installation of sub-systems
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.

- Ability to analyze verbal or statistical data to prepare reports and studies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy of facts and figures.
- Ability to effectively organize, assemble, and arrange resources to meet goals.
- Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively and credibly, both verbally and in writing with all audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites.
Qualifications
Required
- Must be in active student status with current or future class enrollments with MSU.
- If applicable, ability to work with export-controlled technology.
Desired
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
