Social Media Intern 

We are looking for a self-motivated undergraduate MSU student that is interested in being an integral member of the marketing and communications department for Wharton Center for Performing Arts.  This role offers hands-on experience in digital marketing, social media strategy, and live event promotion within a professional performing arts environment. 

Hours: 10 hours a week (Potential to go up to 20).  

Start: This position would start in the fall with training hours this spring.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

Assist Social Media Coordinator with the design and execution of social media campaigns for shows, education events and other Wharton Center related campaigns. 

Assist in the filming and creation of social media video content. This is a front facing role (i.e. In front of the camera) 

Assist in analyzing social media analytics & creating reports 

Collaborate with the digital team to create stories, produce videos, write blog posts, work on the Wharton website and social media graphics  

Support marketing team at live events 

Consult with marketing staff on student promotions and/or events proposed by Wharton Center Student Marketing Organization 

Assist with other day-to-day tasks as they are assigned 

 

Desired qualities: 

An interest in performing arts, theatre, and Broadway is preferred 

Love all things social media marketing, trends, and creative storytelling 

Sophomore or above pursuing a degree in advertising, marketing, communications, or a related field 

Understanding and experience with Microsoft Office programs (including Microsoft Excel) 

Experience with major social media platforms, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Blogs, and LinkedIn 

Knowledge of social media analytics when tracking audience & campaign performance. Experience with a social media content management system a plus 

Experience using and designing within Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro or iMovie is a plus 

Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills 

Strong writing skills 

Ability to work within a team dynamic 

Ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities 

Previous work experience within digital marketing or social media is a plus 

Member of Wharton Center Student Marketing Organization or willing to become a member
